My Background

I am a very blessed and dedicated musician and thinker from Taiwan, based in Copenhagen since 2006. I perform mostly as a  contemporary percussionist, sometimes as a pianist, and once a while a composer/arranger  and when the mood comes, a visual artist.  I enjoy all genres of music and have a tendency to be multi-faceted.  As a child I  passionately practiced classical piano, painting, and ballet-dancing, daily.  The moment I began percussion at age 11, I intuitively knew I was going to stick to it for my whole life. Subconsciously I may have already sensed that  percussion has tremendous potential for expression; It  combines what I had learned from visual art, dance, and classical music. Most importantly, it is primitive and modern at the same time.

Wood Factory and Contemporary Music
I grew up in a wood factory in Taiwan, which, I realized during an interview only shortly  before I turned 30, has influenced big time my taste and  the choices for art and instruments.  My parents's house was  situated within the factory, where trunks of trees were piled up high and the smell of wood permeated the air.  Sound of machinery, which one can label " noise",  was simply part of my life until I moved to the United States when I was 15.  Very classically trained, I became more and more drawn to contemporary music/ art as I grew older. Even though I do not have so much knowledge of wood and machines, I am attracted by the effect of dissonances and irregular rhythms-  for me it is a metamorphosis of  sounds and the images of the wood factory.

That is just one important aspect of me.
