Mani, hand; Matta, artist Gordon Matta-Clark.
“Mani.Matta”, written by Italien composer Pierluigi Billone in 2008, is a monumental contemporary work which musically captures the very essence of the American artist/architect Gordon Matta-Clark’s work: breathing gaps. To further bring out the essence of the work of Gordon Matta-Clark, video artist Rikke Benborg and performer/percussionist Ying-Hsueh Chen have together made the abstract film “Mani.Matta” on top of Billone’s original composition “Mani.Matta”. There is no dialogue nor story, only a phenomenal essence of suspension of linear time and space, brought out by the spectacularly bizarre scenography converging and diverging with the mysterious performer. An gesamtkunstwerk which conveys a unfathomable world of void, breathing.
